誕生日

今日はお兄ちゃんの誕生日です。App Storeで大人気のゲーム、Angry Birds に夢中のお兄ちゃんのために、ケーキ屋さんに頼んで、ゲームに出てくるキャラクター、Red Bird のバースデーケーキを作ってもらいました。「お兄ちゃん、お誕生日おめでとう！！」


塾のテストを終えて、ほっと一息、Angry Birds のSeasons版「St. Patrick's Dayバージョン」を楽しむお兄ちゃんの傍でスクリーンをのぞくSoniciです。

2日前に東北地方太平洋沖地震が発生し、テレビを通じて明らかになる被災地の状況を見るたびに心が痛みます。揺れは感じられたものの特に変わりなく暮らせている自分が申し訳なく感じられ、誕生日のお祝いも複雑な想いがしました。子どもが元気に誕生日を迎えられたことへの感謝、子どもの成長を見続けられるという幸せ、平穏な日常の有難さ、色々なことがことさら強く感じられる誕生日になりました。
今回の地震・津波の被災者の方々に心よりお悔やみ・お見舞い申し上げます。
被害の全容がまだ把握されていない中、遠方に住んでいては直ぐにお力になれることは難しいですが、救援・復興に少しでもお役に立てることが見つかったらさせていただきたいと思います。

I had mixed feelings about celebration of my son's birthday when I thought of the people suffering , the tragedies we see, and the challenges we face. In a way, it was a very difficult birthday, but it became a meaningful, unforgettable birthday also. I am feeling thankful than I ever have about happiness to be able to celebrate my son's birthday, to be together, to see his growth. I discovered how precious simple everyday life is — sleeping, eating, going-to-work, meeting friends, and walking freely around life.
